The Revolutionary John Adams

Cheryl Harness uses her interests in history and art to create picture-book biographies that make it easy for kids to connect with people from the past. Of her treatment of John Adams, Harness says, “I wanted to bring the second President of the United States out of the long shadows cast by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and reveal Adams as a brilliant country lawyer and tireless revolutionary who met every challenge of his dangerous times.” 

Harness lives in the country outside her hometown of Independence, Missouri. She has written six presidential biographies for National Geographic.
